Both the hamster and the Montagu’s harrier are species facing difficulties in Flanders. Both of these species require large-scale arable fields and these are difficult to find. A wide range of measures and resources have been provided thanks to species protection programmes, which were recently approved by Minister Schauvliege. There will now be four area coordinators who will consult locally and look for habitats for and consensus about these species.
